Our Favourite Places to Stay in Namibia

Namibia offers so many wonderful accommodation options to suit all budgets and tastes. Where you stay can be a highlight of a trip to Namibia in itself. Read on for our favourite places to stay in this magnificent country.

1. Onguma Tented Camp

Witness wildlife congregating at the camp’s large waterhole as you relax on your deck...

Why we love it: This is our favourite lodge in the Etosha area and perhaps the whole of Namibia! Set on a private wildlife reserve, the camp is well designed with each of the seven rooms enjoying a view of the large waterhole. The service is excellent and extra touches like returning to your room at night to find it lit with candles and a hot water bottle waiting for you in your bed are definitely appreciated! 2. Camp Kipwe

Stay in this architectural wonder perfectly located to explore Damaraland’s highlights...

Why we love it: This unique camp perfectly blends into the surrounding terrain; all the rooms are built into crevices and spaces between the rocks. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than enjoying a cold sundowner drink from the lookout point high above the lodge as you watch the sun setting over the beautiful Damaraland landscape. However, this lodge is extremely popular so book early to avoid disappointment! Discover more

3. Okonjima Bush Camp

Track cheetahs and other predators on game drives and on foot...

Why we love it: A visit to the AfriCat Foundation is a must for any visitor to Namibia; it is possible to visit for the day but to track cheetahs and other predators in the Okonjima Nature Reserve, you need to overnight at Okonjima. This intimate lodge features only nine chalets; each with a generous Sala with comfortable day beds overlooking a small waterhole/bird bath. Discover more

4. Fish River Lodge

Soak up stunning views of the second largest canyon in the world...

Why we love it: Located only metres away from the edge of Fish River Canyon, there is no better place to stay to visit the canyon. Enjoy stunning canyon views as you relax in the swimming pool. If stargazing is your thing, you can sleep on an outside bed under the stars or stay in the warmth of your room and drift off to sleep as the rooftop windows offer you a view of the night sky. 5. Desert Breeze

Enjoy remote desert landscapes a short distance from Swakopmund...

Why we love it: A perfect option for those who don’t want to stay in a town but want to be close enough to enjoy its activities and amenities. Surprisingly only a five minute drive from Swakopmund, this quirky lodge feels much further away as it boasts spectacular views of desert landscapes. Discover more

6. Wolwedans Dunes Lodge

Discover the picturesque NamibRand Nature Reserve; an International Dark Sky Reserve...

Why we love it: The NamibRand Nature Reserve does not feature on a typical Namibia itinerary but it really should! Spending a few nights at the stylish Wolwedans lodge and exploring the reserve is an experience you won’t forget. The service, food and guided tours are of an exceptionally high standard. 7. Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge

Sit on the viewing deck and watch large herds of elephants gather by the river...

Why we love it: Nkasa Lupala offers a similar experience to that of the Linyati region of Botswana just across the river, but at a fraction of the price. You can discover the area’s wildlife on game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris and night drives. However, you don’t even need to leave the camp to see animals; Nkasa Lupala is unfenced meaning game wanders freely through! Discover more
