Alaska Whale Watching Holidays

The rich oceans around Alaska are the summer feeding waters for many species of cetacean, meaning there's a plenty on offer for whale and wildlife enthusiasts on a whale watching holiday in Alaska.

Over 500 humpback whales can be found in the waters of the Inside Passage – the Icy Strait is a particularly busy feeding ground. The best time to watch humpbacks bubble-net feeding is in June and July, but there are many different species of cetacean commonly seen around Alaska's coastlines from June through to September.

Frederick Sound in central Southeast Alaska and the Kenai Fjords are particularly well known for whale watching in Alaska – orcas, humpbacks, grey whales, belugas and Dall's porpoises are all frequently spotted in these dramatic fjords. Other marine wildlife you might encounter includes sealions, otters, eagles and seabirds.
