Chile Cruise Holidays

The extensive coastline and endless fjords make exploring Chile by water a genuine and very popular option. While there are a handful of voyages each year that will travel further north, the main networks of expedition cruise opportunities are located along the largely sheltered shores of Patagonia. Here, passengers can experience extraordinary scenery, glacial activity and the kind of wildlife normally associated with Antarctica – including penguins and elephant seals.

Patagonian cruises tend to be fairly short when compared to their Antarctic equivelents, with most lasting no longer than 5 days. This makes them perfect for tagging on to a longer exploration of other regions of Chile, or a southern expedition to the so called 'White Continent'. They generally begin operating towards the end of September and continue uninterupted right through to the end of March.

Ship sizes are comparable with those popular in the Antarctic, with a maximum of around 200 passengers being the norm. This enables the vessels to get in and out of fjords which the big cruise ships simply cannot navigate and also load and unload their passengers in a timely and orderly fashion.
