Finland Northern Lights Holidays

The brilliant white snow, breathtaking landscape and authentic log cabins of Finnish Lapland provide a truly splendid backdrop for searching for the northern lights.

Home to over 34,000 reindeers and 749 fells, Finnish Lapland is one of best places on earth to go in search of the aurora – they appear on more than 200 nights a year here. The accommodations we use are chosen for their locations in wilderness areas well away from artificial light sources, increasing the chances of great aurora sightings. Many offer a log fire and some even a private sauna, which adds to the authentic Lapland experience.

Wherever you stay in Finland, a wide range of exhilarating optional activities are available in tranquil wilderness surroundings. From exploring your surrounds by snowmobile to mushing your own team of huskies, there’s plenty to do to ensure your days live up to the nights!

Where to see the Northern Lights in Finland

Travel to Iso-Syote to experience a unique log cabin hideaway in a charming ski resort, stay at Muotka Wilderness Lodge in the eastern Saariselka fells where there's an option to spend a night in a specially equipped Aurora Cabin. Choose a lakeside setting staying at Nellim Wilderness Hotel perhaps spending a night in an Aurora Bubble for optimum viewing potential, while newly opened sister properties Inari and Nangu expand the choice of wilderness resorts. Alternatively, enjoy boutique beauty for adults only at Beana Laponia near Rovaniemi. Huskies take centre stage here and mushing is a popular activity.

With their first hand knowledge of this region, our Finland Travel Specialists are here to help you plan your own adventure, whether you want an 'off the peg' holiday or would prefer to tailor make a trip to suit your requirements.

We had a fabulous time and saw the lights. All the arrangements where spot on, flights, accommodation as per description, and we would not hesitate to recommend you to friends and family."

Top tips from our Finland Specialists

Mark Champagne from Discover the World"For something different, have a go at snowshoeing. As I donned my snow shoes and headed out onto the frozen lake, I took a quick look up to the sky and there was the aurora - dancing and jigging its way across the sky, for many hours, it turned a great night into the perfect one".

Thank you so much for all the help in organising our Lapland wedding trip, we had a fabulous time. We particularly enjoyed the husky safari. It was such a buzz driving a dog team through that beautiful terrain.
