Norway Cruise Holidays

The long, rugged coastline of Norway, with its dramatic seascapes and rich maritime heritage, is best explored on a cruise. The local Hurtigruten ships ply the coast year round, calling at ports between Bergen and Kirkenes.

The coastal route threads through a maze of deep fjords and scattered islands, past towering mountains and colourful fishing villages. At North Cape, the northernmost part of continental Europe, stand on the 307m high cliff and take in the breathtaking views out to the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean.

The Hurtigruten ships vary in age and size and some of the older vessels, although smaller, have a very special character while the newest fleet members boast large panoramic lounges, hot tubs on the sun deck and a selection of cafes and bars.

Voyages during the winter months are very popular due to frequent sightings of the northern lights.

Between September and early April with the vast, black open skies you have a good chance of seeing them awash with the aurora borealis. On the other hand, during the summer months, the Nordic sun barely sets above the Arctic Circle bathing the dramatic coastline in the golden rays of the beautiful midnight sun.

Combine coastal stays with a Hurtigruten voyage to encounter delightful places along the way such as the picturesque Lofoten islands, the vibrant town of Tromso or Kongsfjord, a charming 19th century guesthouse where you can enjoy strolls on the beach and wonderful hospitality.
