Norway Short Breaks
Our collection of short breaks focus on the country’s most fascinating cities - from the capital Oslo to the jewel of the fjords Bergen – and are designed to be the perfect introduction to the charms of Norway.
In southern Norway, the capital Oslo is uniquely located at the top of Oslofjord, and offers numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, museums, galleries and a variety of shopping possibilities from famous Scandinavian brands to kooky vintage boutiques. The surrounding countryside boasts pine forests, lush farming areas and dramatic highlands.
The colourful town of Bergen has proudly gained a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage list for Bryggen, an old Hanseatic wharf. The Fish Market and the funicular railway to Mt Floyen add to Bergen’s long list of attractions. Gateway to the fjords, Bergen is in a gorgeous coastal setting surrounded by steep forested hills.
Further north, the unique Art Nouveau town of Alesund is best observed from the high point of Aksla, offering breathtaking views across the city. It’s the starting point for a scenic drive to Geirangerfjord. In northern Norway, Tromso is a charming city with much to see and do. In summer locals spill out onto the street in cafes, while during the winter adventures abound like husky sledding and the city is regularly bathed in the northern lights.
With a choice of places to stay our independent short breaks offer plenty of time at leisure to explore. For the ultimate short break visit two cities or combine with a countryside stay. All our short breaks are fully flexible should you wish to extend your stay or adapt an itinerary to suit you.
