The easiest way to explore St Helena is by car, providing the freedom to get around at leisure and take in all the island's main highlights.
You must provide a valid driving licence with no endorsements for dangerous driving or drunken driving in the last 5 years, and must be 21 years and over.
Driving is on the left-hand side of the road, although most roads are single lane. Etiquette requires the driver coming down to make way for up-coming traffic. Road signs are shown in miles per hour and the maximum speed limit on the island is 30mph.
Rental vehicles on the island are limited and pre-booking is essential.
